Contact Improv seems to resist definition. It tests the limits of the body and her fluctuations while molding into the curves and momentum of another. It is bound by no physical shape and plays into the raw gentle chaos of universal forces while observing surrender, free will, and gravity.
After seeing Grace and Kage dance together in November 2025, I couldn't get the vision of them out of my head and had to capture the way they moved. After growing up dancing and having spent the past few years processing the trauma it left me with, capturing these two beautiful humans dancing together seemed to heal something in me. Luckily, both Grace and Kage were open to being vulnerable and shooting in collaboration with me.
After many failed attempts to get together, we were finally able to shoot in May 2026. The result was even better than I could've expected.
